Harlem River Bridges

The Harlem River is in fact an 8-mile tidal channel that connects the East River with the Hudson River (seen in the far distance), and is what really makes Manhattan an island. Since the river separates the 1.5 million people of Manhattan (on the left) from their 1.2 million fellow New Yorkers living in the Bronx (on the right), numerous bridges cross it – ten in all.
