Grand Central Terminal

New Yorkers love to correct those hapless visitors who call this depot Grand Central Station. “It’s Grand Central Terminal,” they say, “because the trains end here!” Built in 1913 for the unheard-of sum of $43 million, it replaced the old depot of the New York Central Railroad, which was plagued by congestion and the smoke of steam engines.
