Table Mountain from Bloubergstrand

Rising like a phoenix out of the Atlantic, Table Mountain, a massif of granite, sandstone and shale, stands as a beacon of safe harbour. For early European travellers, the mountain represented a welcome mid-point on the trade route between home and the East. It was a place where supplies could be replenished and preparations made for the final leg of the journey. It has always been invested with a spiritual significance, and today some esoteric philosophies regard Table Mountain as a powerful world energy site, representing earth, one of the four elements.
